Understanding by Design

One rather popular model for creating interesting courses in instructional design is the UbD model. This process starts by having the instructor visualize the end of the lesson; what results should be easily witnessed when the lesson is done? Then the instructor builds backwards by considering how to determine whether those goals have been reached (assessment). After the goals and assessment have been determined, the instructor fills in the lesson and activites which will best create the desired result.
